'Red is Beautiful' by artist, Judith Stoughton, circa 1974.   Framed and signed on reverse, with message from artist to Robert Clark Nelson and his wife Carol.  Matting shows some slight discoloration towards bottom as seen in photos.

 

Sister Judith Stoughton, an art historian and author, taught at St. Catherine University for over 40 years until her passing on September 1, 1991 at Bethany Convent in St. Paul. A St. Paul native, she grew up in the Midway area and attended Derham Hall High School. Sr. Judith joined the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1939, and earned her bachelor's degree in art and English from St. Catherine University in 1944. She later received a master's of fine arts from the California College of Arts and Crafts and studied at the University of Minnesota, the University of California, and the University of Chicago.
